Vancouver police have issued a warning after assaults on two women over the past three weeks.

The VPD believe these were possible robbery attempts and were not sexually motivated.

The first occurred on January 23 near Langara–49th Station around 11 p.m. According to a VPD news release, a 23-year-old woman was tackled to the ground near the intersection of Manitoba Street and West 48th Avenue.

"He hit her in the face and then ran away as she began to scream loudly for help, drawing the attention of nearby residents," the VPD stated.

The second incident took place around 7 p.m. on February 4.

"A 67-year-old woman out for a walk near Columbia Park at West 42nd Avenue between Alberta and Columbia Street observed a man who appeared to be hiding behind a tree," the VPD revealed. "Moments later, the man walked up and punched her in the face and head."

After she screamed, he ran toward Oakridge Mall.

Both victims reported that they were struck by a white male in his 30s or 40s. He's described as having "slim to medium build, and balding with short hair".
