The Vancouver Canucks couldn't find the net tonight again in St. Louis. For the fourth time in five games, the team was blanked by their opponents, this time 4-0 by the Blues.

It was the second time the Blues shut out the Canucks in a week, extending Vancouver's winless streak to seven games. And the loss means that the Canucks have been mathematically eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs.

St. Louis opened the scoring at 10:51 of the first period with a short-handed marker by Kyle Brodziak. Less than five minutes later, Robby Fabbri made it 2-0.

A second-period goal by Carl Gunnarsson and a third-period goal by Joel Edmundson put the game out of reach.

After the game, head coach Willie Desjardins told reporters that the Canucks played two good periods, but noted that his team is young.

"I think some of those young guys hit the wall a little bit tonight," he said.

      The Canucks were outshot 37-15.

Chris Higgins and rookies Ben Hutton and Nikita Tryamkin were on the ice for three of the Blues' goals.
