Earlier this month, a man on a bicycle hit a 23-year-old woman in the back of a head with a golf club near the corner of Gladstone Street and Kingsway.

"He turned around and came back toward her on his bike, when a witness arrived on scene and scared the suspect off," a Vancouver Police Department news release states.

Now, police are seeking the public's help in solving the crime, which occurred at 6:45 a.m. on April 2.

The woman was treated on the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

The suspect is described at 6'0" with an average build, dark brown hair, and a large brow. He's white, between his late 20s to early 30s, and was on an old blue mountain bike.

It's the second unprovoked attack in this area to make the news this year.

On January 8, a group of Syrian refugees were pepper-sprayed while waiting for a bus not far away from the scene of the more recent assault.

A man on a bicycle also perpetrated the earlier attack, which was condemned by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, among others. The refugees had been attending a welcoming event at 2122 Kingsway.

The aassault occurred near where Syrian refugees were pepper-sprayed earlier this year.
