The discovery of a grenade in a donation bin at Value Village in Coquitlam caused a temporary evacuation of the area today (April 22).

Police were called around 10 a.m. about a suspicious device.

After investigators found the grenade was inert, the store and roads were reopened.

This grenade is the second one to be found since yesterday.

On April 21, the Sumas border crossing was closed due to a grenade spotted in a van. Abbotsford Police Staff Sgt. Rick Stewart later reported the device to be inert.

Three travellers, who were seeking to travel through Canada to Alaska, were returned to the U.S.

The crossing was reopened later in the day.
