B.C.'s biggest comglomerate is going to get a little larger if Canada's broadcast regulator approves its acquisition of nine radio stations in Northern Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group Limited Partnership and Rawlco Radio Ltd. have announced in a news release that Rawlco has agreed to sell seven FM stations and two AM stations in Edmonton, Alberta, as well as in the Saskatchewan communities of Prince Albert, North Battleford, and Meadow Lake.

The Kamloops-based Jim Pattison Broadcast Group has 33 FM radio stations and three television stations. It's part of the Jim Pattison Group, which is a Vancouver-based private company with $8.1 billion in annual sales. It's owned by billionaire Jimmy Pattison.

The Pattison company says that the "current local management teams will continue lead" the stations it's bought.

The sale is dependent on approval from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.

Rawlco, which is controlled by the Rawlinson family, will continue holding its seven other radio licences in Saskatoon, Regina, and Calgary, according to the news release.
