A ruckus onboard a 99-B bus preceded an attack on a transit operator on Tuesday (April 18).

The man began harassing people at a bus stop at the corner of Alma and West Broadway, according to Transit Police spokesperson Anne Drennan.

She told Global News that he continued shouting at passengers after boarding the vehicle before being ordered off at the corner of West Broadway and Trutch.

The man reportedly spat on the driver and then punched him in the head.

Matthew Bristo, 42, been charged with assault. While awaiting trial, he's been ordered not to get on any bus driven by that driver.

According to Drennan, it's the 22nd assault on transit operators this year. By this time last year, there were 28 assaults.
