Today, transit police issued two statements regarding alleged assailants.

In the first, it said that Kurtis Willick, 30, has been released from custody with conditions.

He's charged with sexual assault in connection with an attack on a young woman on May 7 as she was returning home from work.

"At Patterson Station in Burnaby, she left the train and walked out of the station onto Central Boulevard, noting a man with a dog leaning against a guard rail," the police force said in a news release. "She became aware of the man following her as she turned onto a side street and turned to see the man running towards her."

According to the transit police, the man grabbed her and committed sexual assault before she escaped and ran home.

The allegations against Willick have not been proven in court.

In the second statement, transit police revealed that a New Westminster man, 36-year-old Merle Henry Alexander, has been arrested for "allegedly assaulting the operator of a moving bus".

The incident occurred onboard a vehicle travelling southbound on Commercial Drive in the intersection with East Broadway.

"A passenger sitting near the front of the bus moved up beside the operator and without warning punched him on the shoulder, with his hand bouncing off the shoulder and grazing the operator’s face," transit police stated. "He then yelled to be let off the bus."

The assault charge against Alexander has not been proven in court.

Yesterday, transit police reported that a woman who assaulted another woman was sentenced to 49 days in custody after an attack on the SkyTrain on April 27.

Dorcas Gail Shorson, 35, pleaded guilty in court after the victim took a photograph of her.
