CBC News has reported that troubles at a Suncor facility is a factor behind the shutdown of some gas pumps in B.C. and Alberta.

Two Petro-Canada stations have run out of fuel in Kelowna.

GasBuddy.com's Dan McTeague told CBC that the biggest issue is an "unknown production problem" at Suncor's Edmonton refinery.

According to McTeague, up to 20 stations might be affected in B.C. and Alberta.

On May 29, Suncor announced that it had begun "safe and staged restart of its operations" of its Firebag in situ oilsands project in Wood Buffalo.
