Steve Moore settles lawsuit with Todd Bertuzzi

More than 10 years after former Canucks forward Todd Bertuzzi ended Steve Moore's career, they have reached an agreement to end Moore's lawsuit.

Today, Moore issued a statement saying he's "happy my family will no longer be burdened by an unresolved legal case".

The settlement was reported last month, but then Moore's brother Mark told TSN that there wasn't a deal.

Today is the first time that Moore's side has confirmed that the case won't be going to court.

Moore was playing for the Colorado Avalanche on March 8, 2004, when Bertuzzi jumped on top of him during a game at Rogers Arena. The attack fractured three of Moore's vertebrae and he was removed from the ice on a stretcher.

Bertuzzi's mugging was in retaliation for a hit Moore had delivered on former Canucks captain Markus Naslund the previous month. Bertuzzi later pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm.

Moore also sued the company that owns the Vancouver Canucks.

The terms of the settlement have not been released.
