Vision Vancouver's decision to clip the wings of marijuana dispensaries could exert a political price.

That's because a poll by Nanos shows that only 10 percent support the City of Vancouver's ban on edibles in licensed dispensaries, whereas 85 percent were opposed.

Only 23 percent of respondents supported the city requirement that dispensaries must be twice the distance from schools as liquor stores. Sixty percent were opposed.

The poll was financed by Sensible Change Society, which supports decriminalization of marijuana.

Nanos also reported that just 22 percent support the city's prohibition on consuming cannabis inside dispensaries, whereas 71 percent were against.

And only 14 percent agreed with the city's decision to impose a $30,000 annual licensing fee on marijuana dispensaries.

The results were obtained from a telephone survey of 400 Vancouver residents between June 3 and June 8 who were 18 or older. According to Nanos, the poll's margin of error is plus or minus five percent, 19 times out of 20.
