SFU Harbour Centre evacuated due to fire
Simon Fraser University’s downtown Vancouver campus was evacuated earlier this evening (September 16).
Photographs posted to Twitter shortly after 6 p.m. showed a small fire on or near the top floor of the Harbour Centre building at the corner of West Hastings and Seymour streets.
By 6:25 p.m., members of the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services were on the scene.
Beginning just before 7 p.m., messages posted by students online indicated that the fire was extinguished. Not long after, SFU confirmed the news via its Vancouver Campus Twitter account.
Our Harbour Centre building has reopened. Thank you to the @vanfirerescue & @vancouverpd for their quick response!

I heard a rumor that the fire was start by the human resources department to try and cull back on the teacher's salaries.
