Surrey man killed in truck in what appears to be a targeted murder

There's been another murder in Surrey.

The city's 12th homicide of this year occurred when a man was killed in a hail of bullets while driving his truck near 145 Street and 83 A Avenue.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has tweeted that it looked like a targeted hit.

The victim's identity will be released on Monday.

The killing came after a 17-year-old, Serena Vermeersch, was found murdered on September 16 in the 14600 block of 66th Avenue.

IHIT has tweeted that it's no longer seeking information about a silver truck in connection with her killing.

Police released news of the latest Surrey murder on the same day that Coun. Barinder Rasode announced that she will make public safety the cornerstone of her campaign for mayor.

Well....it looks like a "whodunit" was solved, a guilty perp got Justice served and the Courts and the IHIT squad has saved money; they still have a "whodunit"....but...not bad.

I'm born and raised in North Van and it is completely inaccurate to say the North Shore never attracts trash...It's everywhere in the Lower Mainland, just better hidden in some places. There have been homicides here for sure over the years.

Glad they caught the guy in this case quickly. May her family find some peace.
