The Vancouver Police Department is investigating a fatal collision with a pedestrian on Granville Island, after three passersby were struck by an SUV travelling in reverse at about 12:30 pm.

Two individuals suffered minor injuries, while the third was, as reported by the VPD, “pinned under the vehicle, and has since died.”

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Significant damage was caused to the 1600 block Anderson St. storefront (reported elsewhere as Maiwa Handprints Ltd.), with a city engineer dispatched shortly after the incident to assess structural stability.
