Amy Robertson swears affidavit in defence of residency claim by husband Gregor Robertson

Journalist Bob Mackin has tweeted a photo of an affidavit filed by Amy Robertson in a court case against her husband Gregor Robertson, who's the mayor of Vancouver.

Cedar Party leader Glen Chernen has filed an application for a court order preventing Gregor Robertson from seeking reelection based on the address he listed on the form he presented to the city.

Chernen noted that the address is that of his wife Amy. And the mayor disclosed earlier this year that he had separated from her.

In the mayor's defence, Amy Robertson acknowledged that her husband "has been staying in an apartment in downtown Vancouver".

"However, I continue to consider the Kitsilano residence to be Gregor's home as well while our family considers our future," Amy Robertson declared in the affidavit. "Gregor keeps a key and comes sometimes for meals. His furniture and many of his peronal items remain in the home. He also pays bills, including property taxes for the home."

Vision Vancouver spokesperson Marcella Munro characterized Chernen's legal action as a "nuisance" in an interview with the Province.

It's not the first time Amy Robertson has helped her husband politically since the separation.

In late August, Vision Vancouver sent out a letter signed by her. It was to announce that she and others had formed a group called "Women of Vision", which she cochairs, with the goal of electing more women from the party to city council, park board, and school board.

I'd say Mr Chernen is barking up the wrong tree - he really should be going after Mr LaPointe, who doesn't even live in Vancouver.

      anything goes? doublespeak

Your place of residence isn't where you live? So let's get this straight. Robertson swore that he lives at an address in Kits and had this declaration notarized as being true. Now he admits that he lives downtown. He clearly admits to a making false statement. Why didn't Gregor just write down the place of his real residence downtown on the form?

Should information on a candidate's nomination paper be factual? Looks like anything goes in this city of doublespeak.

One mayoral candidate doesn't even live in Vancouver, the other needs an affidavit from his wife to confirm that he lives somewhere we know he doesn't. The whole thing is a box of crackers. And the prize is we get stuck with whichever developer boy wins on Nov 15th! Yay! Gimme 5

@Gimme 5 - you could always vote for COPE's Meena Wong if you want an alternative.

The Gridlock (and Co 2 emmissions) we have to put up with downtown heve been greatly increased as a result of bike paths. The rest of us (and Mother Earth) are paying a big price just so you can get what you want. I blame YOU Amy Roberson for this mess.

I'm sure the voters will be relieved to learn that Gregor's stuff is still in his former home and Amy hasn't dumped it as so often happens in a break up....
But there is still a few weeks to go so perhaps a vigilant watch needs to happen outside the Robertson home?

This is old news now. The court dismissed the accusation, just as they did with the last one. I guess it's just a case of throwing a pot of spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks.

Oh yeah, that Kitsilano home -- the home that's just a stone's throw away from that exclusive private road that Gregor created, and now maintains, with taxpayers' money for the benefit his ultra-rich friends and neighbours on Point Grey Road.

I find your style of journalism akin to Barbara Walters. And the Straight could hire some more interesting writers. Talk about flogging a dead horse. Who fucking cares? I mean honestly.
