New Westminster police are investigating a dog attack in the unit block of Dufferin Street.

In a news release issued on August 23, the police department said that two dogs attacked another dog as it was being walked with a leash by its owner.

The incident occurred around 7:55 p.m. on August 11.

"After the attack the owners of the unleashed dogs put their dogs in their car and left the area before police arrived," the news release stated. "The other owner took his dog to an emergency veterinarian."

The City of New Westminster requires dogs to be leashed except in dog parks or other designated areas.
