North Shore mountains lure skiers, snowboarders, and showshoers

      Snow has created a winter wonderland on North Shore Mountains.

      In response to the white stuff, Grouse Mountain has opened the Cut today to mid-station. This comes after skiers were permitted onto the peak yesterday. Paradise Bowl was already open on Grouse Mountain before the weekend.

      Grouse Mountain has also announced that snowshoers have access to Blue Grouse Loop, Whistler Water Way, and the Snowshoe Grind via Discovery Loop.

      Meanwhile, Cypress has opened for cross-country skiing this weekend. The mountainis available to skiers and snowboarders top to bottom with the Sky Chair operating until 3:15 p.m. with "expert-only" terrain on the T-33 Road, according to its website.

      The third North Shore ski hill, Mount Seymour, has opened its Goldie Meadows Learning Area, Bear Bowl, and tobogganing areas.

      Environment Canada has warned of a cold snap that could bring snow, rain, and showers to the Lower Mainland this evening. The overnight low will fall to -1°C tonight, -3°C on Monday (December 29), and -4°C on Tuesday (December 30).
