Vancouver police issue warning for drug users

The Vancouver Police Department has warned that "fake" Oxycodone can be lethal.

In a notice on its website, the VPD stated that some Oxycodone—seized from a home where a man recently died—actually contained Fentanyl.

Police describe Fentanyl as "an extremely dangerous and potentially deadly drug".

The 24-year-old's cause of death has not been confirmed, but it's suspected to be linked to drugs.

According to police, as paramedics tried unsuccessfully to revive him, two other men were found in cardiac arrest.

Why don't they warn them not to sell and use drugs all day long without fear of arrest on the Downtown Eastside?

Because that's not really possible. We can't keep drugs out of prison; you think you'll keep them out of a port city?

Arresting them won't solve the problem.
      Legalization of drugs will.
Nobody will be taking bad, unmeasured doses once drugs are legal.
They'll get proper doses, with lot numbers, supply chain management.

This fellow has, without too much hyperbole, been murdered by Canada's criminal drug policy. It is a crime against humanity that drug users are treated like vermin, denied access to pure drugs.

In Vancouver, if you want crack, you can get it. Same for heroin, meth, pot, whatever it is you want. We're not all rushing out to buy crack, are we? Legalize the stuff and be done with it; prohibition isn't keeping anyone from getting high. The people prohibition punishes are the lower tiers of society, who don't have the best connections.

If its legal it won't stop the crime or the overdoses or the burden to the healthcare system. The story above is about natural selection. Choose to dabble with dangerous substances and you run the risk of not being around for your next welfare cheque.
