The first strike affecting West Vancouver's transit service in 100 years has only lasted one day.

Yesterday evening, Local 134 of the Amalgamated Transit Union and the District of West Vancouver reached a tentative agreement.

This means the West Vancouver blue bus service has resumed operating this morning.

Buses are travelling between downtown Vancouver and Horseshoe Bay and from West Vancouver to UBC.

West Vancouver mayor Michael Smith intervened yesterday, according to union spokesperson Bill Tieleman.

This spurred direct talks, which led to a a settlement. The terms of the deal have not been released and it must still be ratified by workers.
