B.C.-born golf star Dawn Coe-Jones dies of cancer

      One of Canada's greatest female golfers has passed away in Florida at the age of 56.

      Dawn Coe-Jones was born in the town of Campbell River and grew up in Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island before going on to win three tournaments on the LPGA tour.

      The Canadian Golf Hall of Famer died after developing cancer.

      Coe-Jones competed under her maiden name Dawn Coe, winning the B.C. and Canadian amateur championships before turning pro in 1984.

      She represented Canada at the World Cup in 2005.
