A 38-year-old suspect is in custody after an arrest involving a fire at a vacant home on Vancouver's West Side.

On November 20 around 3 p.m., firefighters responding to a fire at a home on Drummond Street at West 2nd Avenue saw a man running out of the building as it burned.

Investigators believe the fire was deliberately set, and police are continuing to investigate if there are any connections between this fire and other recent fires in the city.

By November 10, Vancouver police reported that 25 suspicious fires had been set at vacant homes in 2016. Three suspicious fires were set on November 7.

On November 19, firefighters battled a blaze at an abandoned duplex at Cambie Street and West 62nd Avenue in South Vancouver.

No injuries occurred at any of the fires.

Anyone who has information about any of the fires in Vancouver is asked to call the tip line at 604-717-0605 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
