Back in 2015, Vancouver-based U.S. citizens and activists launched B.C for Bernie to help drum up votes for Senator Bernie Sanders in the Democratic presidential nomination.

After Hillary Clinton won the final Democratic primary in June 2016, Sanders launched Our Revolution in August. Our Revolution is an organization that aims to educate voters and get them involved in the voting process and to empower the next generation of progressive leaders.

Accordingly, B.C. for Bernie announced on January 19 that it has now joined Our Revolution and has changed its name to Our Revolution Canada.

“We’re looking at an extreme right wing coup," BC for Bernie co-founder Julie Boton stated in a news release. "U.S. citizen involvement is crucial to defend America’s public commons and ensure progress on vital issues like climate change and economic inequality. Canadians should also study what’s happened in the U.S. It’s a worldwide problem and can happen here—or anywhere.”

Our Revolution Canada will join the Women's March on Washington in Vancouver to be held on Saturday (January 21). They will meet at Portal Park (1099 West Hastings Street) at 9:30 a.m. before heading to Jack Poole Plaza (at the Vancouver Convention Centre) at 9:45 a.m. to join the official march. Participation is open to anyone interested.
