The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is working with Coquitlam RCMP after a man died behind the Hyde Creek Recreation Centre.

The person was discovered on a trail near the Port Coquitlam facility just before 10 p.m.

"The victim had sustained injuries consistent with foul play, and despite the treatment provided he succumbed to his injuries at the scene," an IHIT news release states.

His identity is unknown and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

"The priority of the investigation is to identify the victim, at which point investigators will notify the family," Cpl. Meghan Foster said in the statement. "Anyone who has information about this man's death, or anyone who used the trail last night is asked to contact police."
