The Mounties are crowing over another arrest.

At 9 a.m. today in Coquitlam, the Prolific Prohibited Driver Team pulled over a man suspected of being barred from driving.

It was done with the help of the team's automated licence plate reader.

When the vehicle was searched, police found an inert grenade, a loaded handgun, an illegal butterfly knife, and other edged weapons.

According to an RCMP news release, a report will go to the Crown regarding the possibility of charges.

“We are cracking down on prohibited drivers because we believe they're a danger every time they're in control of a vehicle," Insp. Mark Baxter, head of the Lower Mainland District Enhanced Traffic Services Programs, said in the release. “Our goal is to take these high risk offending drivers off our roadways making our communities and roadways safer for all."
