Magnitude 4.0 earthquake north of Powell River felt in Vancouver and Victoria

A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck north of Powell River, B.C., this morning (February 18).
The tremor struck about 140 kilometres away from the Sunshine Coast city and about 120 kilometres northwest of Pemberton at 6:40 a.m. and at a depth of 10 kilometres. It was initially assessed at a magnitude of 4.2 but was later downgraded.
The quake was felt in Port Alberni, Gibsons, Powell River, Cumberland, and even Metro Victoria and Metro Vancouver.
There were no reports of damage and none are expected, according to Earthquakes Canada.
