Two men are dead as a result of gun violence near East 31st Avenue and Inverness Street in Vancouver.

The victims were found shot in a vehicle last night in what police are calling a targeted attack.

A 49-year-old man died at the scene and a 32-year-old man died after being rushed to hospital.

Police sealed off the surrounding area last night as members of the gang squad and major crime section gathered evidence.

      No names have been released.

These are the fifth and sixth homicides in Vancouver this year.

There were 11 homicides in Vancouver last year.

Update: Vancouver police identified the 32-year-old victim as Vancouver resident Navdip Singh Sanghera. The 49-year-old has not been identified pending notification of his family.

Sanghera is a member of a family identified by former police chief Jim Chu in 2009 as participants in a bloody gang war in Vancouver.

At the time, the VPD stated that 100 shootings has occurred in the previous two years as a result of a feud between the Sanghera group and the Buttar-Malli group.
