The Copperhead Course at Florida's Innisbrook resort will always hold a place in golfer Adam Hadwin's heart.

That's because it's where the Abbotsford, B.C.-raised golfer won his first PGA tour win today.

Hadwin's 14 under par left him one stroke ahead of American Patrick Cantlay at the Valspar Championship.

With this victory, the 29-year-old B.C. golfer takes home more than $1.13 million in prize money.

Hadwin's lowest score came on the second day when he shot a tournament-best 64.

Growing up in the Fraser Valley the Robert Bateman secondary school grad actually preferred baseball over golf.

"I picked up golf at a fairly young age – about 3, but didn’t get serious about it until my teens," Hadwin writes on his website. "Again, baseball was more my sport growing up. My dad was a teaching pro and I credit him with introducing me to the game and being my first real coach."

His home turf in B.C. has been the Morgan Creek Golf Course in Surrey.

After graduating from high school, Hadwin went to the University of Louisville. In 2016, he won the Vancouver Open.
