Vancouver–Mount Pleasant is considered one of the safest NDP seats in the province.

With just two of 90 ballot boxes counted, the incumbent New Democrat, Melanie Mark, has captured 18 of the 25 votes cast.

Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Norm Letnick has been reelected in Kelowna–Lake Country.

Early returns show the B.C. Liberals with a substantial lead in the popular vote.

Christy Clark's party has 46.88 percent of the popular vote, compared to 36.24 percent for the NDP and 15.07 percent for the Greens.
