Vancouver police say a woman is in serious condition in hospital after being shot near the corner of East 7th Avenue and St. Catherine's Street.

According to a VPD news release, investigators believe it was a targeted shooting.

No arrests have been made.

The gunfire occurred just after 5 p.m. this evening (May 23).

Update: Vancouver police said on May 24 that the 33-year-old victim, Janice Nicole Bryant, died shortly after being rushed to hospital.
