A controversy involving cherry pits has been amicably resolved at a gurdwara in the South Okanagan.

Earlier this week, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan was filmed by an angry shopkeeper after tossing these seeds on the pavement outside East Indian Meat Shop in Osoyoos.

After Sajjan said in Punjabi that he was sorry, Pamma Chauhan replied in Punjabi: "No, not sorry, I know you are a big officer. I am recording all of this. Who made you such a big officer? Do you see all this? What should I throw in front of your house?"

The Hindustan Times has reported that a "reconciliation" took place at the Bhav Sagar Sikh Temple in Oliver with members of the local Sikh community in attendance.

Sajjan, who's also the Liberal MP for Vancouver South, "accepted his mistake" and apologized for littering.

Community members reportedly expressed "strong resentment over the action of Chauhan for 'humiliating' the prominent personality representing them".

Chauhan also reportedly apologized for his actions.
