Prominent climate-change activists and advocates Bill McKibben, Naomi Klein, and James Hansen have signed an open letter asking Port Metro Vancouver to delay and "seriously reconsider" two proposals to increase coal exports.

The letter, also signed by many environmental groups in Canada and the U.S., says if the plans are approved they will make the port the largest coal exporter in North America.
