Canadian Derek Drouin wins bronze in Olympic high jump
After going without an Olympic medal since Saturday, Canada has broken the drought with a bronze by high jumper Derek Drouin.
Russian Ivan Ukhov took gold and American Erik Kynard won silver.
Drouin of Corunna, Ontario tied Great Britain's Robert Grabarz and Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim in clearing the bar at 2.29 metres.
It's the first Canadian men's Olympic medal in high jump since former Vancouver resident Greg Joy took the silver in Montreal in 1976.
Drouin, a three-time NCAA champion, is familiar to Vancouver fans who attended the 2010 Harry Jerome International Track Classic, where he won the men's high jump with a leap of 2.25 metres.
