Charles Reid appointed as BC Hydro president and CEO
BC Hydro has a new president and CEO.
Charles Reid has been appointed to the role after serving as acting president and CEO since late 2011, the Crown corporation announced today (July 13).
“He has demonstrated to me and the Board that he is the kind of strong, steady leader we need at BC Hydro as we work to invest in British Columbia’s energy future while keeping our rates affordable and competitive for our customers,” BC Hydro chair Dan Doyle said in a statement.
Reid, a certified general accountant, has previously served as BC Hydro’s executive vice president and chief financial officer.
He has also worked as a Canfor Corporation executive and as a director for several organizations including the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Columbia Power Corporation.
Reid’s appointment as president and CEO of BC Hydro is effective immediately.

The fact that he is also an accountant simply adds to his renown and mystique.
