Former energy-industry executive Arnie Gunderson blows the whistle on nuclear power
Nuclear engineer Arnie Gunderson has revealed on his website that Tokyo soil samples would be considered "nuclear waste" if they were found in the United States.
During a recent trip to Tokyo, Gunderson collected the dirt from parks, playgrounds, and rooftop gardens.
He has also maintained that the Fukushima nuclear-power disaster will lead to a million deaths from cancer.
Gunderson, a former nuclear-industry senior vice president, has become North America's leading whistle blower on the threats posed by reactors, including the Columbia Generating Station, which is about 400 kilometres southeast of Vancouver.
Gunderson has provided testimony about nuclear operations, reliability, safety, and radiation to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, as well as to political bodies around North America. Listen to what he says below in an interview earlier this month with Democracy Now's Amy Goodman:
Arnie Gunderson says nuclear accidents can destroy a nation.

You don't have a clue about the articles you publish, this one the exact equivalent of the junk science that Global Warming deniers using come up with. Perhaps a bit of research before publishing? I know it's a new concept for you.
Does the term "peer reviewed science published in reputable journal" mean anything to the "yellow" journalist? Not at the Straight it seems.
On Gundersen
"..He is a disgruntled former nuclear services salesman who has a strong motive for disliking the nuclear industry – he got fired from his lucrative position as a senior vice president in the early 1990s after accusing his employer of improperly handling radioactive sources that could be purchased via mail order. He was sued by his employer and he claims that he was blackballed by the industry..."
For a decade or more, he worked as a private school teacher at a salary approximately 1/4th of what he was making in the nuclear industry and supplemented that income with expert witness testimony in cases in which he testified against nuclear companies. His qualification as an expert witness was based on the fact that he had earned both a BS and an MS in nuclear engineering. "

He is not certified by any professional body in the world as a nuclear engineer.
" ..Gunderson has provided testimony about nuclear operations, reliability, safety, and radiation to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission..."
Sure and he did that as paid shill for the large group of virulent junk science based anti nuke organizations that plague the blogosphere.
For those who are interested in well researched "journalism" here is the real skinny on this another of Gundersen's usual dodgy claims.

You claim that the Straight has descended to the depths of "yellow journalism" by merely reporting on a critic of the nuclear industry, an industry you tirelessly shill for on this site and probably others.
You never state whether or not you get paid for your ubiquitous, overlong, and repetitive posts. My guess is that, yes, you do.
Regardless, to only be able to direct people to a site run by the nuclear industry itself and another run by an ex-submarine sailor with no credentials seems like a weak bunt instead of a home run for someone throwing about terms such as "well researched journalism", "peer reviewed science", and "reputable journal".
I'm just sayin'.
