Lululemon founder Chip Wilson resigns as chief innovation and branding officer

Thefounder of Lululemon Athletica plans to resign his executive position with the Vancouver-based yoga-apparel company.

Chip Wilson will step down as chief innovation and branding officer effective January 29. He will stay on as chair of the board of directors.

"I remain deeply committed to the Company’s continued success and given the strength we’ve built into the organization over the past three years, I feel comfortable leaving the company with [CEO] Christine Day at the helm of a world class management team whom I fully believe will continue to elevate our world. I look forward to continuing to contribute in my role as Chairman of the Board," Wilson said in a news release today (January 6).

Wilson founded Lululemon in 1998 and opened its first store in Kitsilano in 2000.

Lululemon now has stores and showrooms across Canada and the U.S., and in Australia, China, and New Zealand.

I don't think he had a choice, with all the bad publicity that lulu has gotten in the press. Guy sounds like a real whack job.
