Mayor Dianne Watts and Surrey First council to be sworn in
MayorDianne Watts and her Surrey First council are set to be sworn in during an inauguration ceremony today (December 5).
The Surrey First team swept to power in the November 19 civic election, reclaiming the mayor’s chair and securing all eight council seats.
Reelected under the Surrey First banner were councillors Tom Gill, Linda Hepner, Marvin Hunt, Mary Martin, Barinder Rasode, Barbara Steele and Judy Villeneuve. They are being joined on council by Surrey First’s Bruce Hayne.
Bob Bose, a Surrey Civic Coalition candidate and long-serving local politician, was the only incumbent who lost in the election.
Watts, who is entering her third term as mayor of Surrey, is slated to deliver a speech on council’s goals for the city at today’s inauguration ceremony.
The event takes place at City Centre Library in Surrey at 7 p.m.
