What a year for Filip Peliwo. The 18-year-old from North Vancouver capped off an amazing 2012 with a victory in the boys' final at the U.S. Open in New York.

Peliwo defeated Britain's Liam Broady 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 to take the title on this afternoon.

The victory comes a month after Peliwo won the Junior Wimbledon championship in London, which propelled him to the top of the world junior tennis rankings. It was also the first Grand Slam singles title by a Canadian male.

Earlier this year, Peliwo advanced to the finals at both the Australian Open and French Open. By reaching the final at the U.S. Open, Peliwo became the first player in 28 years to make it this far in all four junior Grand Slam championship matches in the same year.

His Grand Slam singles record in 2012 was an astounding 22-2.
