Olympic Village rental housing may get new management

Comments

A new group may begin managing the two City of Vancouver–owned nonmarket rental-housing buildings at the former Olympic Village starting in the fall.

COHO Management Services Society has no plans to renew its contract to operate the facilities at 122 and 80 Walter Hardwick Avenue. The group is an arm of the Co-operative Housing Federation of B.C.

According to COHO executive director Thom Armstrong, his company’s two-year contract ends on November 30.

However, Armstrong told the Straight in a recent phone interview that his company intends to stay on as the manager of the housing co-op on the site. The Athletes Village Housing Co-op is an 84-unit building located at 151 West 1st Avenue.

Do actually think this will help? Renters there will continue to get screwed with increased pricing and little services!

It Does Not Matter If COHO PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY Leaves At The End Of Their Contract Or Not, As You Will Still Have To Pay For Water, Heat. Hot & Cold Water Plus The Cooling System. So Even If The City Gets Some Other Management Company To Manage { 80 - 122 } Walter Hardwick Ave You Are Still Over Charged Even If They Give Out Rent Hikes. The City Is Greedy And Picking On Low Income Renters In Those Two Buildings.

Hello,
We are about to sign a lease there on 80, but reading comments and revues about the bills, is scaring us. Could someone explain us what is the real amount of the bill? We've been told it is $30 monthly.

Thanks

Here's An Answer To Your Question
We Lived There For A Year And A Half At 80 Walter Hardwick Ave. If You Do Move In There Be Expected To Be In A Fish Bowl As Everyone Is Nosey And Wants To Know Your Business + There Is Always Notices Put Onn Your Door About Events ETC. + Plus They Check The Fire Alarms Monthly. Also You Will Have To Pay For Water { Hot & Cold } + The Cooling System Through A Monitor On The Wall Which Calculates Your Useage Through A Company Called Enner - Pro Which Will Send Out Bills Starting In July. Also On Your Bill You Will Notice 3 Meters As Thats What Is For Your Water { Hot & Cold } I Could Keep Going On And On But I Would Be Mentioning Everything Bad. Yes There Are Some Good Things There BUT ? You Would Have To Live There First. This Is Just A Few Things I Didnot Like Living There So I Moved Out. My Personsonal Beef Is That If You Are Renting You Should Not Have To Pay For Water. Hope This Helps You. Just Think Really Hard
Before You Move There. That's The Best Advice I Can Give You.

Thank you for your reply.
Do you know how high are the bills for hot & cold water through Enner-Pro?
Do we also pay heat through them? Do we also have to pay Hydro?
Reading all comments, make it difficult to understand the billing.

I am afraid we will pay more than what we paid before all included.

after taking time to write out the truth I can never understand why media and press won't print it and allow their readers to make their own mind up. The paper doesn't live here yet when people that do write about what really is going on you decide what should be published. considering there's no profanity and porno why all the constraints. The truth is this goes on all the time and if people knew how their opinions are manipulated by design or accident we would all throw up together.

Yes everyone is looking at you. More than a fish bowl. Its expensive to live there, Fact. Dont expect free stuff when everyone else is paying a preimiun to live there. Everyone tends walks around the low income units and yes everyone know which ones they are without having to be told.
