Police conduct hundreds of liquor pour-outs at Vancouver fireworks
The second night of Vancouver’s annual fireworks festival saw police make more than a dozen arrests, seize several weapons, and conduct hundreds of liquor pour-outs.
Large crowds gathered at English Bay and Kitsilano Point last night (August 1) for the 2012 Honda Celebration of Light fireworks display from Brazil.
Statistics released today by Vancouver police show there were four arrests for public intoxication, seven arrests for breach of peace, and three other arrests from the event.
The statistics also show there were 392 liquor pour-outs, 17 liquor seizures, five weapon seizures, and 39 violation and bylaw tickets issued.
Meanwhile, transit police reported there were 78 liquor seizures and 26 violation tickets issued.
Vancouver police have vowed to crack down on public drinking during the fireworks events, which draw hundreds of thousands of people from across the region to Vancouver’s waterfront.
The final night of the 2012 Honda Celebration of Light will see a fireworks show from Italy on Saturday (August 4) at 10 p.m.
