Robocalls reflector Dean Del Mastro under investigation for election offences
TheOttawa Citizen has reported that the parliamentary secretary to Prime Minister Stephen Harper is being investigated by Elections Canada.
Dean Del Mastro, the Conservative MP for Peterborough, was the point man in defending his party in the House of Commons in the recent robocalls scandal.
But according to the story in the Citizen, Elections Canada has claimed that it has "reasonable grounds to believe offences were committed" by Del Mastro in connection with voter-contact calls made in 2008.
Del Mastro has denied any wrongdoing.
Last month, Del Mastro also achieved a certain degree of notoriety by arguing on CBC's Power & Politics show that sex is not biology.
Liberal MP Dr. Carolyn Bennett tried without success to set him straight on this.
