Two fires in Stanley Park "deliberately set"
Police and fire investigators say they believe two "suspicious" overnight fires in Stanley Park are connected.
Dumpsters at the Malkin Bowl and Brockton Oval were set ablaze around midnight.
The first fire, at the Malkin Bowl, caused minor damage to a fence on Vancouver park board property.
At the Brockton Oval, the second fire spread to the clubhouse.
"The fire extended into the roof area and was a stubborn fire to fight," a statement from Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services said.
"There is extensive damage to the structure, approximate cost estimated at $200,000."
According to the Vancouver Police Department, the fires do not appear to be linked to a June arson at the Vancouver Police Mounted Unit stables.
Another fire in June caused extensive damage to the Stanley Park miniature railway.
