Vancouver police are appealing for information in relation to the assault of a homeless man in the West End this week.

A West Vancouver police officer found a 39-year-old man in the 1700 block of West Georgia bleeding from the head at about 4 a.m. on September 6, according to VPD. The man was taken to hospital and treated for serious facial injuries and a fractured skull.

“The victim in this violent attack is part of a group that is some of the most vulnerable people in our society,” VPD spokesperson Const. Brian Montague said in a news release.

Investigators believe the man was assaulted while he slept near a pedestrian walkway by Lost Lagoon in the Stanley Park area.

No suspects have been identified in relation to the assault. Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact police.
