Vancouver police are seeking help from any witnesses to a single-vehicle crash that sent the driver of a sport motorcycle to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident happened on July 5 at around 6 p.m. near Granville Street and West 43rd Avenue, police said in a news release today (July 11).

The driver of the green-coloured Kawasaki Ninja was travelling south on Granville Street when the motorcycle went out of control and crashed, police said.

The driver remains in hospital after suffering injuries to his head and chest, and bone fractures.

“Speed is considered to be a factor in the investigation,” police said in the release.

Any witnesses to the crash who have not already been in contact with police can call investigators at 604-717-3012.

I would have thought that all factors would be considered in an acccident investigation. Speed of the vehicle would be considered regardless of the vehicle type but so would road conditions, driver experience, traffic conditions, characteristics of the area. visibility and many more. This release is typical of police immediately vilifying someone at the outset. Yes, many bike riders are foolish but insinuating the premise of speeding wihout any evidence and solely on the basis of a sport bike accident is shabby policy.
