Wildfire causes evacuation order in parts of Central Okanagan Regional District

Anevacuation order has been issued for more than two dozen roads in an area southwest of the Okanagan Connector.

It arose as a result of a interface fire, which was reported around 3 p.m. near Peachland.

According to the Central Okanagan Emergency operations, an emergency social-services reception centre was opened at 6 p.m. at the Westbank Lions Community Hall (2466 Main Street, West Kelowna).

Emergency officials have asked the public to avoid the Westside Road area.
