British woman arrested after racist tirade on train goes viral

If the fact that being racist is simply wrong doesn't hold you back from spouting off, here’s another reason you should change your ways: camera phones.

According to news reports, British police have arrested a 34-year-old woman from New Addington today based on suspicion of a racially motivated verbal attack on other train passengers on the Croydon to Wimbledon service in south London.

British Transport Police received the video after it was uploaded to YouTube (after which, of course, it promptly went viral).

In the video, an angry woman lets loose a racist barrage of expletives about black, Polish, and other visible minorities being in the country and not being English. She engages in arguments with other passengers, who are of various ethnic backgrounds.

What’s also disturbing is that throughout the two-and-a-half minute tirade, she holds a small boy on her lap.

Here is the video. Needless to say, it’s quite offensive.

She only had the disturbing courage to do it because a vulnerable child was her lap . If the childwas not therelike any ignorant racist she would not have the courage to say it alone . To watch that little boys eyes .it's heart braking

What is disturbing is that the police are in any way involved in this.

"British police have arrested a 34-year-old woman from New Addington today based on suspicion of a racially motivated verbal attack" - arrested for a "verbal attack", really? Now one can be arrested for expressing an opinion in the heat of the moment?

Take a big step back, folks, and try to understand the implications of that.

You are a racist too - button it little boy until you have lived away from mummy for a while. She should be arrested not just for the foul ignorant racism that she shouted but for the foul language she was using in front of kids including her own. Scum.

i don't think her courage only came from holding the child. 2 percent of the population is psychopathic, and fearlessly insulting an entire tram full of people with no hesitation is a bit psychopath-ish.

Its racism & foul language in public. Yes she has the right to express her opinion (however odious or otherwise you may find it) but not in the manner she did. I would have physically ejected her from the tram & called the police if she had contiunued to spout that filth in front of my kids. Scum like this need to be taught a lesson. I feel sorry for her little boy, what chance has that poor little bugrger got with a mother like that. That is what is wrong with this country, not the immigrants who come here to do the jobs we british are too pissed, stoned or bone idle to do!

@Big Brother... Are you condoning her reaction?, if so you are almost as bigoted as she is. Ridiculous statement by you. In no way is what she said acceptable, and you for agreeing are massively wrong.

I utterly disagree with 'Big Brother'. The fact is, being verbally abusive and threatening is absolutely a criminal offence and with good reason; it undermines our fundamental rights to a civilised and peaceful existence. It is one thing to hold an opinion and express is in an intelligent manner at an appropriate occasion/forum. It is entirely another to be abusive, ignorant, inappropriate and vile. The woman is probably so ridiculously stupid that she is blissfully unaware that her grotesque racism utterly undermines her point of view. That poor child she is holding should be taken into care, she should be punished and be held up as an example for others who, whatever their beliefs, believe it is acceptable to behave in such an antisocial value in public. People that behave like this are reflective of what is fundamentally wrong with Britain today.

The other day in a Kelowna Tim Hortons I had a guy from White Rock exclaim to me "Its all white people working behind the counter!" and "This is hardly even Canada anymore!" He was mddle aged and I am half whitehalf chinese.
Ignorance is everywhere and it is not bliss, it is simply ignorance. Shine a light on it whenever you see it, as ignorant people are like cockroaches, always there but quick to run when spotted.
