Deliciously Disabled to discuss sex lives of people with disabilities

The sexuality of people with disabilities is rarely represented or discussed in mainstream media.

Andrew Morrison-Gurza, a queer Vancouverite who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, is changing that.

Morrison-Gurza, who has a Master of Arts degree in legal studies (specializing in people with disabilities) launched Deliciously Disabled Consulting, a company and awareness campaign that aims to bring the subject of disability into pop culture and to support the sexuality of people with disabilities.

Deliciously Disabled is teaming up with the LGBT organizations Health Initiative for Men, Mpowerment, and Resist Stigma to present a provocative discussion entitled Deliciously Disabled Does Vancouver.

The event, held at the Scotiabank Dance Centre (677 Davie Street) on February 29 from 7 to 9 p.m., is open to anyone interested in participating in a discussion and debate about sexual lives of people with disabilities and the challenges they experience, including stigma.

The evening will also be filmed for a forthcoming National Film Board of Canada documentary.

Admission is by donation to Deliciously Disabled. To RSVP, send an email to HIM.

In the meantime, you can also watch this NSFW video made by musclebound local artist Brent Ray Fraser, who supports the #DeliciouslyDisabled campaign. The clothing-optional artist helps to flesh out his support for the campaign by painting with his own...personal brush.
