The Project Limelight Society has announced the family and friends of Cory Monteith have named it one of three charities to receive donations in the actor's memory.

Monteith inspired local sisters Maureen Webb and Donalda Weaver during the conceptual stages of the organization, a free performing-arts program for kids in the Downtown Eastside and Strathcona. It also provides kids with meals, with a studio upstairs at Limelight's nonprofit East of Main Cafe.

Monteith appeared in videos and at events promoting the almost two-year-old Project Limelight to the public.

"We want to express our most sincere gratitude for the support Project Limelight has received from Cory," Webb, a well-known casting director as well as cofounder of Project Limelight Society, said in a press statement. "He will always remain an important part of the Project Limelight story."

The two other charities recommended to receive in-memoriam donations on behalf of Cory Monteith include Virgin Unite and Chrysalis.

The 31-year-old star of the hit TV show Glee was found dead of a reported accidental overdose in his Vancouver hotel room on July 13.
