The Tracey Fragments
Juno’s Ellen Page plays Tracey Berkowitz, a 15-year-old girl with a vivid imagination. One night Berkowitz is baby-sitting her little brother when the boy goes missing. Desperate to find him, she is soon alone on a journey. The film was nominated for six Genie Awards and Page won a best actress award from the Vancouver Film Critics Circle.

Late Fragment
The lives of three strangers become interconnected when Faye, Kevin, and Theo participate in a rehabilitation experiment that sees criminals and victims exchange stories. An advertised “380 available clicks” lets viewers of this interactive film choose their own story line. Whether Late Fragment is groundbreaking interactive television or a senseless gimmick is up to the viewer.

Little Chenier: A Cajun Story
On a houseboat in Louisiana’s swampland, Beaux (Jonathon Schaech) and Pemon (Frederick Koehler) Dupuis live a quiet life. When Beaux attracts a young woman’s lust and her husband’s jealous rage, Pemon ends up taking the fall for his brother. DVD extras include deleted scenes and an alternate ending.

The Ruins
A group of young Americans in Mexico agree to help another traveller look for his brother, who was lost at an ancient Mayan temple. It soon becomes deadly when a supernatural power turns on the group. DVD extras include deleted scenes, commentary, a behind-the-scenes feature, and an alternate ending.

Stop-Loss
Cruel Intentions’ Ryan Phillippe stars in this topical drama about the consequences of the U.S. military sending its soldiers back to Iraq long after their time in the service has expired. The long-awaited release by director Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry) is an admirable attempt to share the pain that the war in Iraq has brought to the U.S. but fails to live up to high expectations.
