Talented newbie, see?
Yet another promising experimental-music aggregate will be launched on Saturday (October 14), when the Nu:BC Collective stages its inaugural concert at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts' Telus Studio Theatre. The new group is the brainchild of UBC flute instructor Paolo Bortolussi, and its mandate is to mix works from talented academic composers””including, in concert one, the very admirable Howard Basha, Chen Yi, and Keith Hamel””with interdisciplinary input from choreographers, lighting designers, and video artists. Add a cast of familiar virtuosos, and it looks like a fine night out.
