Stephen Thomson is an Online Staff Writer for the Georgia Straight. Born and raised in Metro Vancouver, Stephen got his start in journalism as a student reporter in the university press. He has worked as a reporter, photographer, and editor at newspapers in B.C. and Alberta. Since joining the Straight in 2010, Stephen has covered politics, the environment, education, arts and culture, sports, and other areas. He received a 2010 Ma Murray community journalism award for a feature story about a volunteer coast guard unit.
