Good news, festivalgoers: organizers say that the Vancouver Folk Music Festival (VFMF) is officially back on this summer, according to a press release on the event’s website

In January, citing a lack of resources and financial support, the VFMF announced that it was forced to cancel the annual event this year and likely indefinitely, with a proposed vote to dissolve the society altogether.

Now, with the B.C. Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport’s $30M recovery grant, as well as an outpouring of public support from volunteers and some much-needed extra funding, the VFMF is set to return from July 14-16 at its longstanding home at Jericho Beach Park.

“With hard work, the financial picture is more secure and, with other individuals stepping up to support the festival now, we will make it happen,” the VFMF said in a release. “We know that our members and audience are the heartbeat of the festival. Your outpouring of support over the last few months has given us the courage and strength to move ahead.”
